Advanced Therapy

2003-09-07 - 12:40 a.m.

I know I don't care for Fountains of Wayne, but I kind of admired their tenacity. Little band trying to make it in the big world. Respected musicians/ songwriters with wry, ironic senses of humours who just want to, you know, make a difference.

But that fucking song "Stacey's Mom" has got to fucking go.

At the traffic light tonight a convertible Mustang seating two yuppie pricks blared that godforsaken song. More issues with this scene:

They were yelling along to it.

They were making dance type gestures that they thought were really fucking cool but were, in actuality, LAME.

I couldn't hear my own stereo, which happened to be playing "Midnight in a Perfect World" by DJ Shadow which I enjoy listening to very much on nice nights around 12.

The moron in the passenger seat had a video camera that, in between moments of capturing his driver friends 'awesomeness', was filming the drama of the pitch black empty parking lot across the street.

I bought Randy Newmans 'Good Old Boys' and the Paris, texas soundtrack today.

Also saw the film Thriteen with a friend from work. The lights were going back on at the end as I surreptitiously wiped the tears from my eyes. I glanced over at said friend and with a smirk she murmured, "God. That was trite." I guess it's all about your past. It's just that watching that girl fight with her mom, the bawling and insults and dad who thinks everything can be fixed in one fell swoop, it got to me.

I felt guilty.

Schools back in.
