Done: -Embrace concert @ Bowery Ballroom I'd never heard 'em before, but they were charming and British, which is really all that needs to be said. God, how refreshing to see a non-jaded band in New York City. They were like kids so excited to be in NY for the first time. To Do: -Feist @ Joe's Pub on March 22 I think I've got a crush on this lovely Canadian lady, whose album was my December soundtrack. -Crooked Fingers w/ The Dears @ Bowery Ballroom on March 26 (The Birthday!) The Dears, another group of Canadians, are lovely. The lead singer sounds a bit like a wacky Damon Albarn with touches of Arthur Lee. Crooked Fingers, well, I don't know much, but I like Dignity and Shame, their latest. And they have nice shirts. -Phoenix/ Dogs Die in Hot Cars @ irving Plaza Could Irving try and rip people off a little bit more with the ticket prices? $20 for the ticket alone, which I would gladly pay for the delight of just seeing Phoenix, who were amazing at Bowery. Maybe $20 extra bucks in handling fees though. Ridiculous. I'm more than happy to take a walk up to the box office. But Phoenix. Oh my are they awesome. I got a kitty and named her Estella, Stella for short. She's a Great Expectations baby because I recently finished reading that one. Life is otherwise the same. ~j Ah! The best CD I have heard this year is by a fellow named Andrew Bird and it is called The Mysterious Production of Eggs. Listen to it immediately.
